Links and resources

Here is a place for links (alphabetical) for Schenectady local (and surrounding areas) organizations and resources. They are not necessarily LGBTQIA+ organizations, but if they are not, they are great allies.

Capital Pride Alliance – Events that Capital Pride puts on (Albany based) throughout the year.

CenterLink – A network of over 250 Pride Centers around the world in a spirit of mutual respect and cooperation.

CREATE Community Studios – Schenectady and Saratoga locations, making art accessible to everyone as a vehicle for change in our community. Very LGBTQIA+ Friendly.

GLSEN – Nationwide organization that works on education, advocacy, and equality for LGBTQIA+ Students.

In Our Own Voices – Great organization (Albany), that is working to elevate, support, and grow with POC LGBTQIA+ people in the Capital Region.

The Newburgh LGBTQ Center – New Center in Newburgh which was formed in the last couple of years.

Out Hudson – Group that puts on the annual Pride celebration.

Planned Parenthood of Greater NY – A network of PP centers that serve the Schenectady, Saratoga, Glens Falls, Warrensburgh, in addition to a lot of other locations in Southern NY State. They are very LGBTQIA+ Friendly and Competent.

Pride Center of the Capital Region – The longest continuously operated Pride Center (Albany) in the country! They are celebrating 50 years in 2020.

Rainbow Access Initiative – A group (Albany) that puts out an annual report with LGBTQIA+ friendly/competent Medical Professionals. (Note, it is pretty Albany County heavy, and just because someone is not on their list does not mean that they are not competent)

SafeHaven LGBTQ+ Shelter and Community Center – Brand new organization so that Homeless LGBTQIA+ people have a place to go, as not every shelter in the Capital Region is LGBTQ+ friendly.

Saratoga Pride – Committee in Saratoga Springs that puts on the annual Pride Celebration.

Schenectady Pride – Group that puts on the annual Pride month celebration. We are working closely with them.

The YWCA of Northeastern NY – A 130 year old organization in Schenectady that provides a host of services for our community’s feminine residents and their families. They have been very supportive of us since our inception, and serve a lot of LGBTQ+ people.

This list will be constantly expanding, and if you would like your organization added, send us an email.
