Safe Space On hold…for now

Schenectady Safe Space has been in existence for just over 2 years now. We have grown with the community, and attempted to open a pride center. Unfortunately, that has not come to fruition…yet.

Life has been intense, hard, and a struggle at times for everyone because of COVID. If we had formed a little bit before the pandemic hit, maybe we would be in a different place, however, we didn’t, and we aren’t.

It has been a struggle to keep things going through the last 2 years, but it has been beautiful and fulfilling, and many of you have made a huge difference in the community, and in the lives of those involved with SSS.
That is why this is such a hard message to write. Because of life being what it is, and, quite honestly, not having anyone to fall back on when assistance is needed, I have made the decision to pause Safe Space for now.

I will continue to have our groups until the week of November 15th. Our last group (for now) will be November 18th. The last event we will have before going on hiatus is the TDoR memorial at Gateway Plaza on Saturday, November 20th, at 6PM.

Please find the flyer for the TDor event below.

The website, email, and socials will stay active, so the resources that we have accumulated over the last 2 years will stay available. If anyone (or a group of people) would like to take over the reins, I will be available to help and guide you as I can. I just do not have the time, emotional bandwidth, and energy to keep doing it all on my own.

Much Love, Light, and Laughter to you,

– Justice Faye Dazzle, President of Schenectady Safe Space
